I wanted to say thanks to all.

>From this reflector, regarding my experiment to locate the source of intermittent, but, in winter nearly constant, S9 noise, I have received absolutely great input including taking care in designing my initial approach to my neighbor, making sure to prioritize the relationship, and, from one person who had a similar problem, a path to complete resolution should the neighbor be OK with pursuit of resolution and I will be following up with one person by phone.  

A lot of experience accessible here.   Thanks for sharing everyone.
